At its core, S6C is me: Neal Shaffer.

The roots of this go back to when I first started out in comics. That’s a strange industry, to say the least, and you’ve got to hustle just to get noticed. It was frustrating at times but I loved the way it forced close creative collaboration and the development of a diverse skill set. You could say it lit a fire.

A fire into which I subsequently tossed many irons, including copywriting, journalism, corporate communications, web and social media, PR, screenwriting, and messaging/identity strategy work.

The more I did the more I realized that no matter what form a project took — and no matter which collaborators I brought on — I was really doing one thing the whole time: creating and managing content and the strategy behind it. I decided to establish a place from which to continue doing it. Thus, Slant Six was born. This is where my experience (verbal, visual, strategic) and my relationships (see below) come together in service of businesses, individuals, and clients large or small.

The “we” I use here on the site refers to the partnerships I’ve developed with top-notch creative individuals and studios. Extended capabilities — always matched to the specific needs of a given project — include web design, film/video production, and graphic design and/or illustration.
