mad men: the carousel

AMC’s first scripted drama ends its first season in style.

Say what you will about Mad Men. That it’s paced all wrong, that it’s too morally ambigous, that its depiction of Madison Avenue in 1960 is either too inaccurate or not accurate enough. All of these are up for debate, but this much is not: that it features some of the finest writing you’ll find on TV today.

Witness this scene from last Thursday’s season one finale, in which the main character (a troubled, talented man named Don Draper) pitches Kodak on his campaign for their new slide projector. Simply brilliant.
